Fall Leaf Pickup Guide: Sycamore, DeKalb, St. Charles, Geneva & Lombard
When does leaf pickup start in my town? Each city runs its own program, and the dates change every year with the weather. Below is how each local program works, with a link to the official page where your town posts this year's schedule.
Rather not rake at all? Sarasota Lawn clears leaves from lawns, beds and fence lines and hauls everything away, so you don't have to wait on the city. Call 630-688-3294 · Request a fall cleanup estimate
Sycamore
City crews collect loose leaves raked to the back edge of the curb, usually from late October through late November. Crews work through town each week and can't predict when they'll reach your street, so rake early and often. Keep piles free of branches, grass clippings and other debris, and keep cars off the piles. Waste Management also takes leaves in paper yard waste bags on your regular pickup day through November.

DeKalb
DeKalb collects loose leaves with a vacuum truck on weekdays, typically late October into early December, in several cycles across the city. Rake leaves into a narrow row along the back of the curb, not into the street. Garbage-day pickup takes leaves in open cans or paper yard waste bags only. Leaves in plastic bags won't be collected.

St. Charles
St. Charles runs several curbside collection cycles, usually starting in late October and wrapping up in early December, followed by bagged leaf pickup on refuse days in December. Rake leaves into a row about a foot from the road and away from structures. Some subdivisions are not part of the program, so check your utility bill or call the city to confirm.

Geneva
Geneva collects curbside leaves by zone, usually in three cycles from late October through November. Rake leaves to the parkway about 12 inches behind the curb by 7 a.m. on the Monday of your zone's week. After curbside collection ends, brown paper bags of leaves go out with your garbage into late December.

Lombard
Lombard does not vacuum loose leaves. Instead, the village runs a free bagged leaf collection for several weeks in November and early December. Use biodegradable paper bags; no stickers are needed during the program.

The easier way: let us handle it
City pickup only takes leaves you've already raked, and if snow arrives early, the last pickups can be canceled. A Sarasota Lawn fall cleanup takes care of the whole job:
- Leaves cleared from lawns, beds, corners and fence lines
- Perennials cut back and beds tidied for winter
- Everything hauled away, so nothing waits at the curb
- Add fall mulching, hedge trimming or aeration and overseeding in the same visit
Neighbors save $50 each when 3 or more homes on the same street book a fall cleanup together.
