Aeration & Overseeding

The best way to bring a thin lawn back. Compacted soil, summer drought, pets and heavy use leave lawns thin and patchy. Core aeration and overseeding from Sarasota Lawn help your grass fill back in, for homes in Sycamore, DeKalb, St. Charles, Geneva, Lombard and nearby.

How it works

  • Core aeration pulls small plugs of soil from the lawn. That loosens compaction and lets air, water and nutrients reach the roots.
  • Overseeding spreads quality grass seed while the aeration holes give it good soil contact to germinate.
  • The plugs break down on their own within a couple of weeks.

When to do it

In northern Illinois, late summer and early fall are usually the best time to aerate and overseed cool-season lawns. Warm soil and cooler air help new grass establish before winter. Spring can work for some lawns too. We'll recommend the right timing for your property.

Keep it going

New grass needs steady moisture while it's getting established, and we'll explain what to do after we leave. Regular lawn mowing and maintenance and a fall cleanup and leaf removal that keeps leaves from smothering the new seedlings help protect the results.
